Audi RS6 Avant Protected with PPF and Ceramic Coating

What do you get when you drop a twin-turbo V8 into a family station wagon? The Audi RS6 Avant. This performance wagon has taken the car community by storm and for good reason. A combination of 621 horsepower, stunning looks and enough room for the whole family makes the RS6 the perfect daily driver.

This vehicle, finished in Daytona Gray pearl, rolled into the studio for Full-Body Stealth Paint Protection Film and our Level 2 Ceramic Coating System. This RS6 was already tinted, so the client opted against window tint.  The owner wanted to transform the look of their vehicle while keeping it fully protected, so this was the ideal combination of services for their needs.

Step 1: Decontamination Wash

As soon as the vehicle arrives, we’ll get started on its decontamination wash. We do this car wash to every car that comes into the studio because it prepares the vehicle for our paint protection solutions.

It’s important to get every part of the car clean and decontaminated and that includes wheels, so we’ll start off by cleaning the wheels with GYEON Q2M Iron WheelCleaner and a variety of brushes. From there, GYEON Q2M Iron and Q2M Foam will be generously applied to the entire vehicle. This will remove the majority of the chemical contaminants and surface grime.

With most of the surface grime removed, we’ll move on to our contact wash. We always use GYEON Q2M Bathe and the three-bucket method to ensure we are washing the car safely. This car also had PPF that was removed before we received it, so we’ll use Q2M Tar to remove any remaining glue from the old film. For our final two steps, we will clay bar the whole car and dry it with a BLO car Dryer

Step 2: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

This client opted for Full-Body Stealth Clear Bra on their RS6 Avant. Full-Body PPF will always provide unmatched levels of protection from most hazards on the roads. This includes road debris such as bird droppings, rock chips, light scratches and swirls.

Stealth PPF comes with the added benefit of transforming a glossy car into a matte finish. This is also a great option for cars with a frosted paint job from the factory.

Before we install clear bra, we’ll use a specialized computer program and a large printer, usually called a plotter, to print our patterns in the film designed specifically for each panel on the car. This ensures that you will get a perfect installation every time.

No stretching. No distortion. No blades near your paint.

Now that we have printed film for the whole vehicle, our installers will spray a slip solution onto the body panel and then lay the PPF on top of that. They will make sure that the film is aligned with every edge and any details such as parking sensors before using a squeegee to push the slip solution out from underneath the film. This allows the adhesive on the clear bra to stick to the car.

Step 3: Ceramic Coating

Once the paint protection film is installed, the car will land under our light booth where our professional detailers will apply a ceramic coating. This RS6 Avant is receiving our Level 2 Ceramic Coating System.

The Level 2 System is our most comprehensive coating package.  And includes two layers of coating on all painted areas as well as specific coatings for both the wheels and windshield. Our high-quality, silicon dioxide-based ceramic coatings protect your car from harmful UV rays and chemical damage. They also introduce hydrophobic properties to your paint, making a ceramic coated car extremely easy to clean.

As tempting as it may be to try to install a ceramic coating yourself, they are very difficult to apply, so we always recommend bringing it to a professional shop like ours. There are tons of DIY ceramic coating products on the market, but the results you get from somewhere like Denver Auto Shield will always be superior to a DIY solution.

Since this vehicle has Full-Body PPF, there’s no need to do a paint correction so we’ll jump straight into surface prep. Using GYEON Q2M Prep and Q2M WaterSpot, we’ll wipe the whole car down to remove any remaining water spots or lubricants.

Our detailers will pour the coating onto a specialized applicator and apply to the body panel in linear motions. It’s important that they work one panel at a time so that the product does not dwell on the car’s paint for too long. To remove it, they first use a short-fiber microfiber towel to remove the majority of the excess and then follow that with a long-fiber towel which gets deeper into the paint and removes anything that remains.
