What do you get when you combine a proven sports car platform, a naturally-aspirated flat-6 revving out to 9,000 RPMs, and a wing large enough to eat a meal off of? You get one of the most track-capable road cars ever to exist. Behold the 991.2 GT3 RS

This example, specced in GT Silver with PCCBs and Carbon Buckets, came to us for Full-Body Paint Protection Film, our Level 2 Ceramic Coating System and and our Wheels-Off Ceramic Coating add-on.

STEP 1: DECONTAMINATION WASH

To get this GT3 RS ready for PPF and coatings, it’s important that we do a complete decontamination wash. This will get the vehicle completely clean and prepare it for it’s upcoming services.

Our decontamination wash is a far more complex process than your standard car wash. We’ll begin by cleaning the wheels with a gentle yet effective cleaner and a variety of specialized brushes. From there, the entire vehicle will get sprayed with
Gyeon Q2M Iron and Q2M Foam. These two products are highly effective at removing surface-level physical and chemical contamination.

Applying Gyeon Foam to vehicle

After we rinse the Foam and Iron from the vehicle, we can move forward with a contact wash. For this, we use Gyeon Q2M Bathe and a Q2M Smoothie EVO. We’ll also use the three-bucket method, a standard practice in auto detailing, to minimize any risk of scratching or marring the paint. After washing the entire car using this method, we’ll use a clay bar to remove any embedded contaminants.

Rounding out this process, we use a
BLO Car Dryer to dry the vehicle without ever touching it. This allows us to dry not only the paint, but also any body panel gaps, cracks or other small details without introducing any lint or dust back onto the paint.

STEP 2: PAINT PROTECTION FILM (PPF)

The owner of this GT3 RS has chosen to install Full-Body Paint Protection Film (PPF). For a car as special as this, Full-Body PPF is the clear choice as it provides long-term, robust protection on all painted surfaces from hazards such as road debris, rock chips, scratching and swirling and bird droppings.

Before we start installing clear bra, we will use a specialized computer program to design and print patters designed specifically for each body panel. This ensures that during the installation process, there is no unnecessary stretching, distortion and most importantly, no blades near your paint.

Starting the clear bra installation, our installers will spray the body panel down with a slip solution before gently placing the film on the panel. After aligning edges and setting anchor points, the installers will use a squeegee to push the slip solution out from underneath the film, allowing the adhesive to stick to the paint.

Using this method, we’ll move panel-by-panel around the entire vehicle until every painted surface is protected. After we’re finished, we’ll allow the car to sit overnight. When we come back to it, we inspect the entire vehicle and fix any unwrapped edges, air pockets or any other imperfections. Once we’re completely happy with the installation, our detailers can begin installing the ceramic coatings.

STEP 3: CERAMIC COATING

This client opted for our Level 2 Ceramic Coating System with the Wheels-Off add-on. This is our most extensive coating package that will give your vehicle a high level of gloss and protection. Ceramic coatings protect your vehicle from a wide array of dangers including harmful UV rays, road chemicals and bird droppings. Coatings also have extreme hydrophobic properties, meaning that your car will stay cleaner and will be easier to clean when it is time to do a wash.

Since this GT3 RS has full-body PPF, we don’t need to do a paint correction and can move straight into prep work. We wipe the whole car down with both
Gyeon Q2M WaterSpot and Q2M Prep. These products will remove any waterspots, fingerprints, grease or dust that would interfere with the ceramic coating.

Now that we have a prepped car, we can begin our coating installation. Our Level 2 System includes high-quality coating on all painted surfaces as well as dedicated coatings for the wheels and windshield. To start the application, we’ll pour the coating onto a specialized microfiber applicator and spread it onto the vehicle’s paint one panel at a time. Once the coating has reached its flash time, we will remove any excess using a short fiber towel followed by a long fiber towel.

After the painted surfaces are completely coated, we can shift our attention to the wheels. Since this client wanted a wheels off coating, we have already taken the wheels off and prepped them for coating. Following the same coating process, we will coat all four wheels, including both the wheel faces and barrels.

With the PPF and coating both installed, we can get this GT3 RS ready for delivery by vacuuming the interior and applying a tire dressing. This track toy is now ready for its first worry-free track day.
