If you are a fan of JDM performance, then the Nissan GTR is at the top of your list of cars to own. The twin turbo charged 6 cylinder produces 545 horsepower and 463 lb-ft of torque, pushing the GTR to 60 mph in just 3 seconds. While these performance numbers are certainly the key contributors to the fun factor, we can’t ignore how good it feels to drive your car when you know it is looking its best and you know that the finish is not going to be damaged during use. There is nothing worse than following a buddy through the canyon and knowing that every tick you here is a rock damaging the paint. So how do we keep the fun factor high and the finish well protected? XPEL Clear Bra and GYEON quartz Coatings of course!

The XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS Paint Protection Film is at the top of its class. It is an 8.5 mm thick optically clear urethane film that is designed to absorb the impact of road debris and keep it from permanently damaging your paint. The film has a fantastic gloss on its own and perfect clarity. When properly installed by a high quality shop it is nearly invisible unless you get up close and hunt for an edge.

The GYEON quartz Ceramic Coatings are the perfect compliment to Clear Bra. The Ceramic Coatings provide long term and real protection against UV and environmental impact that breaks down the finish of the car over time. They also deliver a big bump in gloss, dramatic water behavior, and make regular maintenance washing very fast and easy as dirt and contaminant do not stick to the surface. So how do we do it?

The first step is always a thorough decontamination of the entire vehicle, front to back. We make sure that no loose contaminant from another area of the car will migrate in to the installation area. We also want perfectly clean paint to inspect and apply protection to. This decontamination process involves several washes with GYEON Q2M Foam and Bathe, Q2 Iron Treatment, as well as our Clay Bar Process to remove all of the above and below surface bonded contaminants.

For this project, we also removed the Hood Vents to eliminate an unnecessary exposed edge.

Once the paint is perfectly clean, we can evaluate the existing defects in the paints clear coat. Even minor scratches and defects refract the light as it moves through the clear coat, bounces off the color layer, back through the clear coat and in to our eye. By polishing and removing the defects in the paint we allow the light to transfer through cleanly and give us the most gloss and depth possible.

While the car is being prepped, we are also designing and preparing the Clear Bra coverage. We utilize the XPEL DAP Design Software and the Graphtec 60″ Plotter to pre design and customize coverage for every car. The XPEL DAP Software provides us perfectly fitting patterns for every section of the car. We then go in and customize those patterns, extending edges to wrap and adding coverage where necessary to deliver the best possible finished product. This keeps a dangerous razor blade from hand trimming the film over the new paint and also creates complete uniformity in the installation. There are perfectly cut circles around a parking sensor for example and perfectly straight lines to match body panels which is something the human hand cannot consistently create. This GTR received our Driver’s Package which protects the Front Bumper, Headlamps and Fog Lamps, Full Hood, Full Fenders, A Pillars and Roof Strip, Rocker Panels, Rear Bumper Impact Area, Side Mirrors, and Door Cups. This package is specifically designed for enthusiast driven vehicles where we need to protect from the car in front of us as well as the debris that the car will pick up itself and deliver to the lower panels.

Once the Clear Bra is installed, we move on to the Ceramic Coating. This GTR received our Level 2 GYEON quartz Ceramic Coating Package. This package applies a 5 yr + product to the paint and film, a wheel specific product to the wheel faces to protect from harmful brake dust and make for easy cleaning, as well as a glass specific coating for the front windshield to aid visibility during poor weather driving. Ceramic Coatings are far more capable than a wax or sealant in terms of keeping the exposure to the natural environment from damaging your vehicles surfaces.

We now have a vehicle that can be driven as it was meant to be driven without the worry of damage during use. The Clear Bra is protecting from road debris impact that causes permanent rock chips. The Ceramic Coatings are protecting from environmental impact as well as making regular wash maintenance quick and easy. Check out the final shots!
