The Porsche 997 GT2 is a ready made race car, right out of the box. The twin turbocharged 3.6 L power plant makes 523 hp and gets you to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. Being black, and a rare car, we needed to make sure the surfaces are looking their absolute best and well protected. Reaching in to our trusty bag of tricks, we went with XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS Clear Bra and GYEON quartz Ceramic Coatings to keep the paint well protected.

The Clear Bra will give us our impact resistance. The 8.5 mm thick urethane will absorb the impact from road debris that causes unsightly and damaging chips in the paint. With the care and preparation we take during the installation, you truly have to work hard to notice that the film is even in place. The Ceramic Coatings will provide years of real world protection from UV and environmental damage to the vehicles finish. They deliver a ton of gloss, and make regular wash maintenance very fast and easy as dirt and contaminant is prevented from bonding to the surface. So how do we do it?

Each project starts with a complete decontamination and thorough cleaning of each and every surface. We want a pure bond between the paint and the protection we apply, as well as a clean surface to work with. We do this with several washes, Iron and Tar removal, and our Clay Bar Process to remove all above and below surface bonded contaminants.

While the car is being cleaned and prepped, we are also preparing the Clear Bra coverage. Using the XPEL DAP Design Software we customize coverage for each area of the car. With this software, we have perfectly scanned and fitting patterns for every inch of the vehicle. We can then custom manipulate those patterns to extend and wrap edges as well as any other modifications we want to make to hide the film. Once the patterns are designed, they are cut on our 60″ Graphtec plotter, labeled, and placed in the installation area. This keeps a dangerous razor blade from hand trimming large areas of coverage over the paint, where scoring through the film and damaging the paint is highly likely. This also creates a completely uniform installation. We can create identical coverage over the entire car, including perfect circles cut around parking sensors for example. It is this consistency with each area of the car that keeps the human eye from noticing that the film is in place.

If your car is several years old and in need of a bit of rock chip repair before we apply the film, that is no problem at all.

The GT2, while very well taken care of, did need a bit of Paint Correction prior to the Clear Bra and Ceramic Coating application using the Rupes Bigfoot Polishing System.

Time to install the Clear Bra! This GT2 received our Full Front Protection Package which protects the Front Bumper, Headlamps and Fog Lamps, Full Hood, Full Fenders, Side Mirrors, and Door Cups from damage. We remove the Hood Emblem and the Headlamps for an invisible install.

Check out the final shots! We finished the car on a Saturday and did not have our resident photographer in place. So no pictures of the GYEON quartz Ceramic Coating process :(.
